Ratiocination

Ron Paul on War

I'm encouraged to see these words spoken on the floor of the House:

Our policies have been driven by neoconservative empire radicalism; profiteering in the military industrial complex; misplaced do-good internationalism; mercantilistic notions regarding the need to control natural resources; and blind loyalty to various governments in the Middle East.

Paul even takes on that meaningless and all-justifying phrase "the war on terrorism." In short, it's hard for me to remember the last time I've heard anything this sensible and courageous from the mouth of a member of Congress.

Ron Paul is one of my heroes.

1. He used to recruit the brightest PhD candidates, who shared his philosophy of liberty, to be researchers for his congressional staff. I well recall in the 80's where Ron Paul's staff was reviled because they indentified and cataloged consitutional abuses, pork and tried to hold bureaucrats acccountable to theeir consituencies. Washington insiderrs hated him for hiring these bright people from outside the beltway who were able to shine a light on statist abuse of power.

2. He ran for president of the Libertarian Party paving the way for the resurgence today in Libertatians at local and state levels.

3. Ron Paul M.D. (he is still an MD even though he no longer practices) continues to be a voice for the calling of a medical doctor and how damaging statism has been to our medical system as well as how it has harmed freedom of choice for patients and medical providers alike--he continues to speak out against the unnecessary meddling of third partiees like insurance companies and civil government in a private contract (patient-doctor)

4. Even though he runs as a nominal republican most know him as a friend of liberty and an enemy of statists

Thanks for posting this and giving notice to an unsung hero who continues to be a thorn in the side of statists everywhere.
